Who We Are
About the Domestic Cleaning Alliance
The Domestic Cleaning Alliance (DCA) is the trade association representing the UK domestic cleaning sector on behalf of the British Cleaning Council.
We exist to support service providers, represent the industry at national level, and promote professionalism, standards, and career development across the domestic cleaning sector.
As the only organisation representing domestic cleaning that sits on the Members Board of the British Cleaning Council, we act as the Council’s go-to authority on all matters relating to domestic cleaning.
Our History
The DCA was formed in March 2014 to provide representation for a previously unrepresented sector of the UK cleaning industry.
Following a highly successful two-year trial period and rapid growth in membership across the UK, the DCA was officially launched on 9th March 2016 by Mr Simon Hollingbery, then Chairman of the British Cleaning Council.
Since launch, we have continued to grow our membership base and strengthen our role as the recognised voice of domestic cleaning in the UK.
Representing the Industry
We advocate for the domestic cleaning sector at national level, raising awareness of its economic importance and its contribution to homes and communities across the UK.
Our mission includes:
Improving working conditions for cleaning personnel
Increasing recognition of domestic cleaning as a skilled profession
Promoting career opportunities across the country
Raising the profile and credibility of the sector
Supporting Service Providers
Our work focuses on three key areas:
Supporting Service Providers
We provide guidance, representation, and practical support to domestic cleaning companies and independent service providers across the UK.
We understand the pressures faced by business owners — from overwhelming workloads to the ongoing challenge of recruiting and retaining high-quality staff. The DCA works to provide clarity, direction, and industry insight to help our members build sustainable, successful businesses.
Supporting End-Users
We assist with general enquiries relating to the domestic cleaning sector and work to streamline the customer experience.
By promoting professionalism, transparency, and high standards, we help ensure households across the country can access reliable, trusted cleaning services.
